What you'll do

Are you an experienced frontend developer who excels not only in frontend frameworks, but also thinks strategically about architecture, performance and accessibility? Do you enjoy leading a team technically while staying hands-on with development? Then this role at iO Campus Brussels is perfect for you!
As Lead Frontend Developer, you'll work on digital solutions for our clients. You'll engage directly with stakeholders, advise on architecture, and translate complex challenges into practical and scalable solutions. You have a clear vision on modern frontend development, with a strong focus on CMS systems and headless architectures.
Your responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-performance frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks

  • Advise clients on frontend architecture, CMS integrations and best practices

  • Work extensively with CMS systems, particularly Drupal, and contribute to headless architecture solutions

  • Implement and maintain component libraries using Storybook

  • Balance development work with coaching and leading your team

  • Collaborate with backend and mobile developers for seamless user experiences

  • Ensure code quality and accessibility within your projects

  • Work in a team of experienced frontend developers within a growing tech community

Beyond your technical expertise, you're a sparring partner for clients. You don't just ask questions, but proactively come up with well-founded solutions. You guide your team through the latest developments and know how to make the right choices between innovation and pragmatic work.
At iO, you work in a community of top developers on challenging projects. No dusty corporate environment, but a driven team where innovation, knowledge sharing and collaboration are central. We work on large and complex projects, but also ensure you have space to grow and learn.

Your qualities and skills as Lead Frontend Developer

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a frontend developer with Javascript frameworks, including a first experience in a lead role

  • Experience with TypeScript & frontend frameworks, with preference for React/Next.js

  • Strong experience with CMS systems - Drupal theming/Twig experience is a major plus

  • Hands-on experience with Tailwind CSS and Storybook for component development and documentation

  • Experience with headless CMS architectures and composable solutions

  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex matters simply

  • Pragmatic mindset - you know when to innovate and when to deliver

  • Getting-things-done mentality - you ensure projects are successfully completed

  • Experience with GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines & Algolia/Elasticsearch are a plus

  • You are a mentor for your colleagues

Join our Brussels campus in Diegem (from October) and become part of a vibrant tech community. You'll work on challenging projects while having the opportunity to shape the future of frontend development. We offer a collaborative environment where your expertise in CMS systems and frontend leadership will be highly valued.
Ready to lead frontend innovation at iO Brussels? We'd love to hear from you.
