The Belgian real estate market was dominated for years by cumbersome, traditional platforms. Immoscoop, founded by frustrated estate agents, wanted to do things differently: a fast, flexible website that grows with their ambitions. Together we developed a headless CMS solution based on Storyblok and AWS, enabling Immoscoop to serve more than 250,000 visitors monthly and positioning them for further growth.
Headless CMS with Storyblok for maximum flexibility
Cloud-native architecture on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
MACH architecture for future-proof scalability
Phased MVP approach for rapid time-to-market
Intelligent search function for estate agents via API integration
Long-term partnership for continuous development

The challenge
How do you build a real estate platform that can compete with established players, without the technical limitations that characterise traditional property websites?
The solution
A headless CMS architecture with Storyblok and AWS that gives Immoscoop full control over content and functionality, with the flexibility to scale rapidly.
Immoscoop x iO: from startup ambition to market challenger
Immoscoop emerged in late 2016 from an unusual collaboration: competing estate agents who bundled their frustrations with traditional property websites to build their own platform. Today, the platform counts more than 300 active estate agents and processes 35,000 new properties monthly.
We are their digital partner for the technical foundation of that ambition. Our collaboration extends beyond the initial delivery: we continuously develop the platform, anticipate new market needs and ensure technology never becomes a brake on growth. This case highlights the first major milestone, but we continue writing the story together.
Why traditional real estate platforms fall short
The frustration of Immoscoop's founders was recognisable to everyone in the sector. Traditional property websites were cumbersome, slow and offered little room for innovation. Every adjustment required months of development time. Adding content was laborious. And scaling to more visitors or new functionalities often meant starting from scratch.
For a young challenger with big ambitions, that was not an option. Immoscoop needed a platform as agile as their business model: quick to adapt, easy to manage and built to grow.
Headless CMS as a strategic choice for real estate
A headless CMS completely separates the content layer from the presentation layer. For Immoscoop, this means content managers can independently publish pages, blog posts and FAQs without relying on developers. At the same time, our developers can continue developing the frontend independently.
We chose Storyblok as the headless CMS for several reasons:
The visual editor makes content management intuitive for non-technical usersThe staging environment lets Immoscoop test changes before publicationThe extensive API set enabled rapid integration of an intelligent estate agent search functionAs a SaaS solution, Storyblok was significantly faster to operationalise than a custom CMS
MACH architecture: built for the future
MACH stands for Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native and Headless. These architecture principles formed the backbone of the Immoscoop platform. In practice, this means every component of the platform can be adjusted, replaced or scaled independently.
Our technical architects designed a stack where Storyblok manages content, AWS provides the cloud infrastructure and all components communicate via APIs. This modular setup prevents vendor lock-in and makes the platform future-proof for technologies that do not yet exist.
AWS as cloud foundation for scalability
Amazon Web Services provides the infrastructure on which the Immoscoop platform runs. The choice for AWS was strategic: the platform can automatically scale with peaks in visitor numbers, without Immoscoop having to invest in their own server infrastructure.
For a platform that serves 250,000+ visitors monthly and processes 35,000 new properties, that elasticity is essential. During a successful marketing campaign or seasonal peak in the housing market, capacity scales automatically.
Phased approach: first the foundation, then the growth
Given the complexity and scale of the project, we chose a phased approach together with Immoscoop. The first phase focused on a Minimum Viable Product (MVP): a fully functional platform with the core functionalities Immoscoop needed to go live.
This approach limited risks and ensured rapid time-to-market. Immoscoop could start attracting estate agents and visitors while we developed new functionalities in parallel. The MVP was delivered within the pre-set deadline.
The numbers

A digital foundation for market leadership
The new platform does not just solve the frustrations of traditional property websites, it gives Immoscoop a strategic advantage. Content managers publish new content independently without developer dependency. The technical architecture scales with growth in visitors and properties. And the modular setup makes it possible to respond quickly to new market opportunities.
The delivery of the MVP was merely the first milestone. We continue developing the platform together: new functionalities, optimisations and extensions that help Immoscoop strengthen their position in the Belgian real estate market. From startup challenger to serious competitor of the established order.
