A b2b platform that inspires and activates chefs worldwide

How Aviko reaches foodservice professionals in 18 countries with recipe inspiration, product knowledge and a seamless brand experience on a headless Drupal platform

Aviko is an international supplier of frozen potato products and a trusted name in the professional kitchen. But its ambition went beyond supplying alone: Aviko wanted to lead, deliberately taking the step from supplier to knowledge partner. The company looked beyond the product and shifted its focus to the plate — to the dishes chefs serve their guests and the craftsmanship behind them. From this vision, an inspiration platform was born that supports chefs with ideas, insights, and directly applicable knowledge. Together, we developed a multilingual inspiration platform for 18 countries, rich in flavour and product expertise.

  • Headless Drupal architecture for maximum flexibility

  • Scalable b2b platform for 18 countries and languages

  • Recipe inspiration and product knowledge for foodservice professionals

  • Integration with PIM and DAM for consistent product data

  • User experience designed from a chef's perspective

  • Fast time-to-market for new markets

The challenge

How do you transform a product-focused website into an inspiring b2b platform that engages and activates foodservice professionals across 18 countries?

The solution

A headless Drupal platform combining recipe inspiration, product knowledge and brand experience, with an architecture enabling rapid international rollout.

Aviko x iO: from supplier to knowledge partner for the professional kitchen

Aviko is one of the world's largest potato processors, supplying fries, mash, potato specialities and snacks to foodservice professionals and retailers in more than 100 countries. The brand is part of Royal Cosun, a cooperative of Dutch arable farmers.

We're Aviko's digital partner for their transformation into an inspiring b2b platform. Our collaboration goes beyond technology: we contribute to digital strategy, user experience and international scalability. This case highlights the build of their new foodservice platform, but our partnership encompasses much more.

Why a product catalogue no longer suffices in the foodservice industry

Foodservice professionals want more than a list of products. Chefs seek inspiration, recipe ideas and practical knowledge that helps them create dishes that surprise their guests. Aviko's previous platform was primarily product-focused: functional, but hardly inspiring. The challenge wasn't just technical, but strategic: how do you position a b2b brand as a knowledge partner in a sector where relationships are built on trust and craftsmanship?

A platform built from the chef's perspective

The solution started with a fundamental question: what does a chef need when visiting Aviko? The answer shaped the entire information architecture. Recipes take centre stage, not as an afterthought but as primary content. Products are presented in the context of applications and dishes. Navigation follows the logic of the professional kitchen, not Aviko's internal product categories.

Headless architecture as the foundation for international growth

Aviko operates in more than 100 countries and needed a platform that scales with that ambition. A traditional CMS approach would mean building and maintaining the same website 18 times over. The choice for a headless Drupal architecture makes it possible to manage content centrally while adapting locally. New markets can go live quickly, while brand experience remains consistent. The separation of content and presentation gives local teams flexibility without increasing technical complexity.

Product data integration for a consistent brand experience

Consistent product information across 18 countries is a challenge in itself. Through integration with Aviko's PIM system (Akeneo) and DAM, product data flows automatically to the platform. Changes to specifications, images or translations are made centrally and immediately visible across all market sites. This prevents errors, speeds up updates and relieves local teams from manual content management.

From inspiration to action: a considered user journey

An inspiring platform only proves its worth when it also converts. The user journey is designed to guide chefs from inspiration to action: from recipe to product, from product to sample request or contact enquiry. Smart filtering, related content and clear calls-to-action ensure visitors don't just browse, but act. The focus is on relevance: the right content at the right moment for the right user.

A digital platform that scales with international ambition

The new b2b platform transforms Aviko's digital presence from product catalogue to source of inspiration. Chefs now find recipe ideas that match their kitchen in just a few clicks, supported by product knowledge and practical applications. For Aviko, the headless architecture means new markets can go live within weeks, without technical bottlenecks. Integration with PIM and DAM has drastically simplified content management: local teams focus on relevance rather than manual updates. The platform isn't just a marketing tool, but a strategic asset that strengthens Aviko's position as a knowledge partner in the foodservice industry.
