The challenge
How do you make cutting-edge automotive lighting technology emotionally relevant, rather than just technically impressive?
The solution
A branded content strategy combining continuous editorial presence with an annual tentpole short film, distributed across cinema, social and digital channels to reach both Audi drivers and new audiences.
Audi x iO: building brand love through always-on storytelling
Audi Belgium is part of one of the world's most recognisable premium automotive brands, known for its relentless pursuit of innovation in design, sustainability, digitalisation and performance.
As Audi Belgium's lead agency, iO is more than a content supplier: we're a strategic partner in shaping how the brand connects with its audience year-round. Our collaboration spans continuous editorial content for the Audi e-magazine, monthly newsletter integration, and annual tentpole campaigns that push creative boundaries. This case highlights one chapter of that ongoing partnership: the branded film 'Crossroads', featuring GOOSE.
Why always-on content marketing builds brand loyalty for premium car brands
For premium automotive brands, the relationship with customers doesn't end at purchase. Audi drivers and enthusiasts expect to be immersed in the brand's world: its philosophy, innovations and lifestyle. That's why iO produces year-round content for Audi Belgium's e-magazine, covering four strategic pillars: digitalisation, sustainability, performance and design.
This always-on approach ensures Audi remains top of mind, nurtures brand loyalty, and creates a continuous touchpoint beyond the showroom. Each article feeds into a monthly newsletter, keeping the Audi community engaged and informed.
How brand ambassadors amplify automotive video campaigns
Once a year, iO and Audi collaborate on a more ambitious content project: a tentpole production that brings a brand pillar to life in an unexpected way. In 2022, the focus was design, specifically Audi's pioneering work in automotive lighting.
The question: who shares Audi's philosophy of using light to communicate and evoke emotion? The answer: GOOSE. The Kortrijk-based electro-rock band has been Audi ambassadors for years, and their live shows are renowned for immersive light experiences engineered by Olivier Dumostier. The synergy was natural: both Audi and GOOSE see light not as a utility, but as a language.
By collaborating with authentic brand ambassadors, the campaign gained credibility and emotional depth that a traditional product ad could never achieve.
Short film production: the art of premium automotive brand storytelling
Together with filmmaker Bjorn Tagemose of Shoottheartist, iO developed the concept for a short film that serves as a prequel to GOOSE's music video for 'Run Away'. The story follows an Audi A8 driving through a darkened landscape, reflecting aloud on the possibilities of light technology. Her monologue interweaves with that of GOOSE singer Mickael Karkousse, who describes how the band uses light to create new worlds.
Visually and narratively, the two protagonists converge: the A8's journey leads to a mini-concert by GOOSE, where the car takes its place in the front row. The result is a piece of branded content that feels like cinema, not advertising.
The shoot took place at Malle Airport, a former NATO reserve airfield and nature reserve near Antwerp. Dynamic drone footage was captured on location in Sweden.
How to distribute a branded film across cinema, social and digital channels
Reaching beyond the existing Audi community required a multichannel video distribution strategy. The campaign rolled out in two phases:
Cinema: A one-minute teaser spot encouraged audiences to watch the full film online.
Social and digital: Bite-sized snippets ran across Facebook, Instagram, Teads, Auvio, VRT MAX and YouTube.
E-magazine: The full film and behind-the-scenes content featured in the Audi editorial platform.
This approach ensured maximum reach among both loyal Audi drivers and potential new fans, while adapting content formats to each channel's strengths.

A glimpse of a new world: from technology to emotion
The 'Crossroads' campaign proved that premium automotive storytelling works best when it leads with emotion, not specs. By partnering with brand ambassadors who genuinely share Audi's philosophy, and by distributing content across cinema, social and digital channels, iO helped Audi Belgium reach 6.8 million viewers in just three weeks.
More importantly, the campaign shifted perception: light technology is no longer an invisible utility, but a window into Audi's innovative DNA. For Audi drivers and newcomers alike, the film offered a glimpse of a new world, one where cars communicate, adapt and create atmosphere.
The always-on e-magazine content continues to nurture brand loyalty year-round, while the annual tentpole production keeps Audi culturally relevant and creatively ambitious.
